Burt

Children's Museum of Denver, 2018

In 2018 I spent three months as the artist-in-residence at the Children's Museum of Denver. While in residence, I worked with the visitors to make fabric collages using recycled fabric scraps, paint, and thread. These collages where then photographed and printed on to new fabric. We then used appliqué techniques to further collages the new fabrics. These fabrics were ultimately used to make the piece I left behind after my residency.

This leave-behind-piece, titled "Burt", is an interactive soft sculpture body that can be rearranged by visitors into new shapes. Behind the soft sculpture is a velcro wall, and all of the parts of Burt have velcro backing them as well.
