This Is How I See Your House

This Is How I See Your House is a site specific installation where all objects are made, chosen and/or altered to reflect objects found in Instagram photos taken in domestic spaces. The objects were seen in photos featured on Instagram accounts of people that follow the Vicki Myhren Gallery and/or the artist. Subverting the traditional home tour that opens certain well-manicured or privileged spaces to the local public, Frankie Toan looks to Instagram as a virtual home tour, as well as a platform for abstracted self-fictions. How do our social media profiles allow us to tell our narratives, and how do they aid in self-surveillance?
